Desde la primera edición, muchos artistas han sido considerados para recibir la anhelada estatuilla dorada, pero pocos lo han conseguido.Incluso, varios de ellos han estado contemplados en más de una ocasión. Tal es el caso de John Williams, el reconocido compositor estadounidense que a lo largo de su trayectoria en el medio ha estado nominado 52 veces, marcando un récord que está lejos de ser igualado. A pesar de su constancia, sólo se ha llevado cinco premios Oscar en sus más de 60 años de carrera por sus extraordinarias composiciones.La primera vez que el músico fue considerado para recibir el galardón fue en 1968 dentro de la categoría “Mejor orquestación, adaptación o tratamiento” por su trabajo realizado para El valle de las muñecas, película estelarizada por Patty Duke, Barbara Parkins, Jacqueline Susann, Sharon Tate, Susan Hayward y Paul Burke. Lamentablemente no ganó.El compositor tiene 90 años y más de 60 de trayectoria.
